Love at first sight” best describes my introduction to the Labrador breed back in 2001. While reading an article on Autism and the benefits of Labrador & Golden Retriever as companion dogs with ASD children, I simply became smitten. Our first Labradoodle joined our home in 2004 as a companion for our autistic son. Our 2nd Labradoodle, Charlie, has been with us since 2013. Our Labradors & Golden Retrievers have continued to bring tremendous joy and love to our family and everyday life. In fact, they are the inspiration and motivation behind the creation of LABRADOR & GOLDEN CHAMPANIONS, and the direction of the next chapter of our lives. Since retiring from the business world and sending the last of our 6 children off to college, I can think of nothing better than to fill my days with what I love: sharing my love for Labrador & Golden Retrievers.

Along with being a full time working mom, dogs have always been an integral part of my life. I have had many adventures with dogs over the years, from training with Sacramento County Sheriffs Department K-9 officers, to training drug detection dogs, to being a part of breeding and showing dogs in the AKC arena.

There truly is no sweeter cat than a Labrador & Golden Retriever Puppies. I adore their gentle, calm and affectionate nature. My puppies have brought me so much love, happiness and companionship. After falling completely in love with the breed, I wanted to produce healthy, loving and beautiful companion litters for others to call their own – so that they too could experience the unbelievable and unconditional love that is the Breed!

My name is Emily Tomilson! In additional to being a Labrador & Golden Retriever Breeder, I am also a Registered Nurse, an animal lover, and a nurturer at heart. Breeding allows me to combine my passions for both animals and healthcare. I love being able to nurture new, precious life into this world. However, choosing to bring new life into this world is also something that I do not take lightly. I have very high standards and goals for my Labrador & Golden Retriever breeding program.

I am dedicated to preserving the traits and characteristics that make the Labrador & Golden Retrievers are so special. A lot of time, consideration and planning takes place before breeding ever occurs. My breeding program aims to preserve and improve our Labrador & Golden Retriever Breed by focusing on:
Excellent Health: As a breeder, health is and always will be my first priority. I only breed health-tested Litters. All of my Litters are thoroughly health screened, genetically tested and regularly seen by my veterinarian. There are many health qualifications that my Ragdolls must meet before breeding in my program. All of our genetic testing can be viewed publicly on our website.
Loving Temperament: I strive to produce kittens that embody the true Litters temperament – gentle, calm, docile, confident, floppy, playful, sweet and affectionate. I have found that genetics plays the biggest role in producing this sweet and gentle Litters temperament that I love so much. And extensive socialization is just the icing on the cake! After years of breeding and working with many different Labrador & Golden Retriever breeds and lines, I have come to realize that this “true Labrador & Golden Retriever litter temperament” is unfortunately not consistently produced among breeders and it is not easily found. I have made it a mission of mine to consistently produce and preserve the true litter temperament to the best of my ability. I am highly selective of the temperaments in my breeding Labradors & Golden Retrievers and I do not continue breeding lines that I feel are overly active, spunky and high strung – or overly shy, skittish and timid. It takes dedication and many years to observe feline personality traits, how they develop in different lines and selectively breed desired traits forward.
Breed Conformation: Breeding Labradors & Golden Retrievers that physically exemplify the Breed Standard is also a major goal of mine, prioritized after health and temperament. A few physical features that I personally breed for in my program are correct facial structure with medium-small ears, vibrant eye color and large boning. My personal preference is for doll-faced Labradors & Golden Retrievers, meaning Labradors & Golden Retrievers that have sweet expressions and doll faces, without looking extreme or unbalanced. My Litters often have a softer and sweeter look to them when compared to others, as I am highly selective with the look of the litters in our Labrador & Golden Retriever Breeding Program.
